This research “Understanding gender inequalities in the labor market” , was carried out within the framework of the project Promoting the economic empowerment of women through better policies, supported and financed by the International Development Research Center (IDRC) of Canada. The project is coordinated by the Interdisciplinary Center for Development Studies-Uruguay (CIEDUR) and the Center for Distributive Labor and Social Studies (CEDLAS) of the University of La Plata, Argentina. The purpose of the project is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public policies to promote gender equity in labor markets and improve economic opportunities for women, through research. This study was carried out in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico and Uruguay.
