This document “Evolution of the Structure of Employment and Income in Bolivia in the Period 1999-2009” presents the evolution of the structure of employment and labor income observed in Bolivia during the period 1999-2009. For this we use the harmonized series of Household Surveys, which explains why our results are sometimes contradictory with those of other investigations that also use Household Surveys. Our analysis shows that, between 1999 and 2009, there were improvements in the use and remuneration of the labor force. Despite the increase in participation levels, increases were observed in the employment rate and average remuneration, as well as reductions in the rates of unemployment, underemployment and discouragement. It is also evident that, although there were no major changes in the employment structure, the wage structure in both urban and rural areas was ostensibly modified to the benefit of the lower-paid segments.
