Aru Foundation is executing the project Multidimensional analysis of poverty in La Paz, Tarija and the Chaco of Santa Cruz, where a diagnosis is made for the inception phase of the Garbage “0” project in Bolivia of the Swedish Agency for International Development Cooperation ( SIDA), which entails a human rights-based approach.
The objective of the project carried out by Aru is to prepare a diagnosis under the multidimensional analysis of poverty and differentiated by gender, to determine the vulnerable population that is in a situation of multidimensional poverty, its manifestations and underlying causes, in the municipalities of La Paz, Cercado de Tarija, Uriondo and municipalities adjoining the Chaco Cruceño ( Camiri , Boyuibe , Cuevo , Gutiérrez and Lagunillas).
The human rights-based approach defines poverty as a phenomenon that is expressed in four dimensions: (1) lack of material and intangible resources, (2) lack of power and voice, (3) limited access to opportunities and choice and (4) limits on the exercise of their rights to human security. These are influenced by the economic-social, environmental, political-institutional and conflict and peace contexts.
An analysis of deprivation in these four dimensions will define who (men and women) are the most vulnerable and who are in a situation of poverty, how poverty manifests itself and what its underlying causes are.
