The project “Young Bolivian voices in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic” aims to encourage young people to generate public debate based on evidence and data. To do this, a competition of articles and podcasts will be held where young people are expected to send their proposals, reflections and solutions on the socioeconomic impacts of the health crisis caused by COVID-19 in Bolivia.
Some of the topics that can be addressed by the participants are the effects of the pandemic on poverty, inequality, income distribution, work, unemployment, care work, effects on female employment.

The participants of the competition must be between 18 and 28 years old, Bolivian resident, meet all the requirements of the competition, not be part of the current team of the Aru Foundation or the jury team of the competition. They must present their proposal in the format specified in the categories mentioned. The text and audio must be unpublished and original. It can be an individual or pair work.

Participants must submit their proposal until January 17, 2021, at the latest, at 11:59 p.m. After this period, no additional proposal will be accepted for the competition. All documentation in digital format will be sent to the following email: fundacion@aru.org.bo with “Competence – Young Bolivian voices in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic” as the subject.

The following selection criteria will guide the decisions of the jury:

• Use of information, statistical data and documents published together with the call for competition entitled: Poverty and inequality: Short-term estimates in the COVID-19 context , Distributional incidence of social isolation and income protection measures for households and data sources (compendium of social policies in the region, INE, UDAPE, etc.) that the participants consider relevant.
• Creativity and originality of the proposal.
• Quality and depth of reflection and proposed proposals.
An amount of money will be awarded to three works selected as winners for each category. The amount for each job will be Bs 1,500. In the first week of February, the winners will be contacted and the award ceremony will take place.
