The Bolivian Statistical Poster Competition aims to improve the exposure of statistical literacy needs and develop students’ skills in this area. It consists of the presentation of scientific and statistical research topics, embodied in a poster with adolescent and young participants. It is an initiative that belongs to the International Statistical Literacy Project (ISLP).

The categories of the competition in each of its versions are as follows:
Bernoulli: 1st, 2nd and 3rd high school. Poisson: 4th, 5th and 6th of high school. Gauss: Undergraduate universities. This year, a total of 60 students participated, 47 in the Gauss category, 8 in Poisson and 5 in Bernoulli. The third version of this 2023 had the support of Unicef, World Bank, INE (National Institute of Statistics), Universidad Católica Boliviana “San Pablo” and the Statistics career of Universidad Mayor de San Andrés. More than 40 students were awarded in the first three places in each of the categories.

The award ceremony was held on April 12, 2023 in the Jorge Felix Ballivian Auditorium of INE (National Institute of Statistics), where different authorities were present, such as Rafael Ramirez representative of UNICEF, Julio Velasco Senior Economist of the World Bank Country Office, Carlos Gustavo Machicado Director of the Bolivian Catholic University, Jhonny Tomas Suxo Director of National Accounts of INE and Alvaro Chirino representative of ISLP Bolivia. In addition to the presence of all the winning students, those who won first place in each category had the opportunity to show their poster and exhibit it to the public.

The prizes for the first place in each category were a Galaxy Tab A7 Lite Tablet, a Totto backpack, INE book packs and stationery. The prizes for second place in each category were stationery, scientific calculators and INE book packs. While, for third place in all categories, the winners received INE book packs and stationery.

Thanks to the Bolivian Statistical Poster Competition, the first places in each category qualified for the International Poster Competition, where their work will be exhibited on behalf of Bolivia at the 64th World Congress of Statistics to be held in Ottawa, Canada, in July 2023.
